Retro Tile Set #1

A small set of pixel art assets that can be used to create a simple platformer level.

These were based on some practice tiles I worked on a while back, and I thought they might be useful for those who just want a simple set to work with for free, or that can work as a base set to expand upon.  Although there are a small number of tiles, they can be assembled in quite a few ways.

Also included are 5 background layers that can be wrapped together for parallax scrolling, as well as a 16x32 eight-frame looping water animation.  The background layers, including the sky, have plenty of vertical room so that you're not limited to positioning them as they are in the screenshot example.

 You are free to use them in personal and commercial projects, except for the armadillo character, who is included just for scale reference.

UPDATE #2:  A fairly substantial update, including a different color scheme for the background layers (original versions are also included), and duplicates of the foreground tiles that are outlined in black in case you prefer that aesthetic. I also made the inner rock outlines of the ground tiles brown, as it made no sense that they were black when nothing else in the set used black. Future updates will include various trees for the foreground, a "night-time" palette swap, and tiles for making a less steep incline. Moving forward, although I will still include the original ground tile set with the black interior lines,  new ground tiles will be done in with brown lines.
